{"id":24799,"date":"2023-04-04T12:40:48","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T10:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/?p=24799"},"modified":"2023-04-05T08:34:29","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T06:34:29","slug":"sustainability-pills-reporting-and-material-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/en\/sustainability-pills-reporting-and-material-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainability Pills: Reporting principles and Material Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The recent publication of the first Maddalena S.p.A.\u2019s Sustainability Report has been positively welcomed by the numerous internal and external stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n<p><p>During these years the Company has undergone an important <a href=\"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/en\/sustainability\/\">evolutionary transition<\/a> culminating precisely with <strong>the first Sustainability Report<\/strong>: an important phase, which allowed us to move from an unconscious Sustainability &#8211; pursued but not recognized &#8211; to a <strong>conscious Sustainability<\/strong> well-recognized in the Company and therefore considered as a strategic value in international markets.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p>As stated by the Deputy Chair and Managing Director Clara Maddalena within the opening letter addressed to Stakeholders, \u201c<em>It was not just a punctual analysis, but the start of an <strong>organizational change<\/strong> that today guides our choices and permeates every action of the Company with a vision that becomes a growth factor for the future of Maddalena S.p.A.<\/em>\u201d.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p>Through a narrative that will consist of <strong>five monthly installments<\/strong>, Maddalena\u2019s marketing and sustainability department thought about accompany readers with these pills that deeply analyze the key points of the document for a quick but accurate reading.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color\">.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3> <strong>Reporting <\/strong>principles<\/h3><\/h3>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Reporting_principles.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24784\" width=\"793\" height=\"313\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n<p>The reporting principles chosen by Maddalena S.p.A. for content definition are one of the pillars on which the Sustainability Reporting was built and have been summarized through immediately clear icons.<\/p>\n\n<p><p>Alongside the reporting principles there is the use of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalreporting.org\/standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GRI Standards<\/a><\/strong>: a uniform system of indicators that guide organizations in transparently reporting their results, across all dimensions of Sustainability, namely environmental, social and governance. \u00a0<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-text-color\">.<\/h3>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3>Stakeholder <strong>Engagement<\/strong> and <strong> Material<\/strong> issues<\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<p>Relevant, or material, issues are defined as those issues that achieved a high rating of interest from both the Company and external Stakeholders. Within this simple sentence there are some fundamental concepts aimed at a proper management of the Sustainability within a company:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><p><strong>Material issues<\/strong>: the sustainability issues that are a priority for the Company\u2019s internal and external Stakeholders.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul>\n<li><p><strong>Stakeholder engagement<\/strong>: the engagement of \u201cthose who bring the interest\u201d, both internal and external, in the definition of the material issues.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul>\n<li><p><strong>Materiality Assessment<\/strong>: the process that leads to the definition of the issues on which focusing in the short term and that is carried out through a stakeholder engagement path and in compliance with the GRI Standards.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><p>Within the Company\u2019s Materiality Matrix it is possible to identify the different issues, categorized according to <strong>ESG criteria<\/strong>: environmental, social and governance, as well as the degree of relevance that they have for the external stakeholder and for Maddalena S.p.A..<\/p><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/analisi_di_materialita.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24789\" width=\"641\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/analisi_di_materialita.png 771w, https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/analisi_di_materialita-298x300.png 298w, https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/analisi_di_materialita-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/d3w57dy8lxq74n.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/analisi_di_materialita-768x774.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color\">.<\/p>\n\n<p><p><strong>Reporting principles<\/strong>, <strong>materiality assessment<\/strong>, and<strong> stakeholder engagement<\/strong> enable to best set up the company&#8217;s sustainability reporting and strategy, being clear about where to go and which sustainability issues to address.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Quoting again Dr. Clara Maddalena&#8217;s words:<\/p>\n\n<p><p><em>&#8220;Thinking from a Sustainability perspective represents ambitious work that, like any great challenge, requires perseverance, sharing and transparency. So, we started to integrate Sustainability goals into our management tools and think about ESG ratings and Sustainability indicators.
